Claire is a Gifted Teacher in the Wyalusing Valley School District and the Sayre Area School District in Pennsylvania, USA. She is the mother of two children, Scott Jeffrey, age 18 and Caitlin Elizabeth, age 16. She lives with her husband, father, and brother on a 100 acre farm in a small town called Troy, in Northeastern PA. Her family raises beef cattle and sheep. They are also active in crop farming, such as vegetables,hay and straw.
Claire Pratt has grown up on a farm but loves teaching children of all ages. She has been in the teaching field for 18 years and is very anxious to have her students communicate with students from other parts of the world. It is her hope that by having students connect with one another, they can become better caretakers of the Earth. Unfortunately, the adults of this world have not been doing a very good job at protecting our environment and it's inhabitants.
Her vision is to have children become better at communicating with those of different nationalities and cultures. Students can share the knowledge they possess of their own "backyards" and will hopefully develop friendships which will foster respect, understanding and compassion for everyone who lives around the world.
By bring students together, they can perhaps generate ideas for preserving our natural resources and brainstorm creative solutions for the many global problems facing us all today. Students have the unique opportunity to make this world a better place for us all. There is not a more perfect way to start this new adventure of getting to know each other than by becoming Penn Pals!
