CONNECTING EDUCATORS AND AGENCIES
April 10, 2017 –
With the new Indicator 13 requirement for school staff to invite agencies that pay for or provide transition services to all transition-age (14 years and older) IEP meetings, this is an opportunity for secondary special education staff to have real-life exposure to local community agencies that provide services to individuals with disabilities. The training delivery will take place at a local community agency in each of the counties. Representatives from OVR, MH/ID, SKN, provider agencies, etc… will participate in a panel presentation, informing educators about the continuum of services provided. IU 17 Educational Consultant, Brenda Roberts, will teach educators what to include in an IEP related to agency services. Participants will tour the host site. I believe the greatest benefit will be to new and middle school special education teachers who are less familiar with local community agencies.
