03/12/2024Workshop will provide practical training and support in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, and confidentiality. Participants will take the assessments in these areas designed to fulfill the current requirements of No Child Left Behind for "highly qualified paraprofessionals." . To be considered Highly Qualified, individuals are required to have (1) of the following: • Have completed at least 2 years of postsecondary study • Possess an associate degree or higher • Pass a rigorous local assessment in reading, writing and mathematics For questions, please contact registrar@iu17.org.

03/14/2024This 8-week introductory course will focus on the expressive and receptive skills of ASL. Topics in the course include: basic sign vocabulary, facial expression, fingerspelling, numbers, communication tips, and the importance of gestures. After completing this course, the participant will have a better understanding of Deaf Culture. “Hands-on” work, small group activities, and games will provide confidence to use ASL with the Deaf Community.
