07/30/2020The use of Comprehensible Input in the world language classroom.
Special Guest: Michelle Kindt
In this session, world language teachers will explore Dr. Stephen Krashen's Comprehensible Input (CI) hypothesis and its relevance to engagement in the classroom. Because ACTFL both supports and encourages the use of CI in daily lesson planning, this topic is current and necessary. Many World Language teachers hear the endorsement of CI and yet do not understand exactly how it fleshes out within the context of a lesson. World Language teachers will see the "what" and "why" of CI to improve engagement and ultimately advance language acquisition.Michelle Kindt is a National Board Certified French teacher at Hershey High School in Hershey, PA. Michelle has had years of experience teaching all levels of French in both the middle school and high school. In addition to state and local venues Michelle has had the privilege of presenting Comprehensible Input theories and strategies at national conferences, such as IFLT, NTPRS & ACTFL. She has worked with School Districts to develop curriculum and train teachers. She very much enjoys working with World Language teachers, encouraging them to teach for proficiency outcomes via acquisition-driven language instruction. Michelle also loves to read and travel.
