Description: The Board of School Directors of the Northern Tioga School District (NTSD) is now accepting applications for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The new Superintendent will lead the district in its mission to equip all students with a foundation of critical thinking and problem solving tools essential for lifelong learning within local and global communities.

The Northern Tioga School District

The district includes three elementary schools: Westfield Area Elementary in Westfield, Clark Wood Elementary in Elkland, R.B. Walter Elementary in Tioga, housing grades K-6. NTSD’s secondary program includes two high schools: Cowanesque Valley High School in Westfield and Williamson High School in Tioga, housing grades 7-12. The total staff of over 300 supports an array of student opportunities through academics, arts, athletics, and various co-curricular activities. With an annual budget of approximately $38.5 million, the Northern Tioga School District encourages and strengthens their students through their vision of “Empowering students to become productive citizens with a rural advantage.”

The Community

The Northern Tioga School District encompasses 336 square miles of rural, mountainous terrain. It stretches approximately 40 miles from its eastern boundary with Bradford County to its western boundary with Potter County. There are three main transportation routes in the district: Route 15 (future 99 corridor) that runs north and south and Routes 49 and 328 that run east and west. Northern Tioga is a beautiful rural community with a population of approximately 5,600 and includes eleven Townships and five Boroughs.

Position Requirements

  • PA Letter of Eligibility
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Experience as a school or district administrator (Superintendent and/or Assistant Superintendent experience preferred)

The next superintendent will model clear, consistent, purposeful communication as a leader who actively listens for and effectively conveys information. This individual will possess an authentic, honest, and approachable demeanor while building connections among all district stakeholders.
  • Visionary: The Board of Directors seeks a superintendent with a clear and innovative approach to academics and learning. The next superintendent will honor the advances we have made towards our goals and create a focused, multi-year plan centered on student and staff success. This individual will passionately lead our efforts to improve achievement, offer world-class opportunities, and ensure student safety.
  • Community Focused: The Board of Directors seeks a superintendent who understands the rural context of the district, including the strengths and challenges of leading small, rural schools. The next superintendent will be committed to maintaining strong community, family, and school partnerships.

Compensation

A regionally competitive salary and benefits package will be offered to the successful candidate.
