Volunteers are needed to oversee the educational programming of students receiving special education services. These individuals are needed when the child parents cannot be located or are unavailable.
Under Federal Law, these volunteers are considered surrogate parents of these students. As a surrogate parent, you will work with the school to ensure that the childs educational programming is appropriate and his or her educational rights are protected.
BLaST IU#17 will be offering an overview program for potential surrogate parents. These overview programs will be held at the BLaST office located in Williamsport.
If interested in volunteering your time, please contact Diane Guiser at our Williamsport office, 323-8561.
