Cutting Progression
-Start with straight lines, then move on to cutting curved and angled lines.
-Start with cutting along shorter lines, then make them longer as they master the short lines.
Cutting Suggestions/Adaptations
-Cut theraputty, play dough, or straws
-Highlight lines to make them stand out
-Use construction paper or card stock for more resistance. This also helps if a student struggles with holding the paper.
-Put stickers on the line as an extra visual cue. Have the students cut through them
-Put stickers on the side of the paper as visual cues for helper hand placement.
-If students struggle using regular scissors, there are self opening scissors that could be beneficial.
