Rules, Regulations, and Procedures will be the main focus. Topics will include an overview of PA’s definition of gifted, a review of Chapter 16, and a review of the forms that support gifted education. Special focus will be on the procedural requirements of screening, evaluating, and planning for the instruction of gifted students. Results from recent compliance monitoring visits will be shared to help teachers strengthen their service delivery models. Additional topics may include supporting differentiation in the general education setting and supporting goal setting and instruction in an individualized setting. | 09/21/2025 | 09/22/2025(1 event)8:00 am: QBS Initial Training 8:00 am - 3:30 pm Safety-Care is more than crisis management training; it provides the skills and competencies necessary to effectively prevent, minimize, and manage behavioral challenges with dignity, safety, and the possibility of change. Safety-Care delivers the tools you need to be safe when working with behaviorally challenging individuals using up-to-date and effective technologies from Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS). These strategies are appropriate for individuals experiencing developmental, neurologic, psychiatric, and other impairments, as well as individuals who have experienced psychological or sexual trauma. Safety-Care promotes a reinforcement-based approach to developing new skills, maintaining safety, and reducing or eliminating restrictive interventions such as restraint. This training lasts two full days; participants must come prepared to demonstrate verbal and physical competencies to earn QBS Safety Care initial certification. Participants should come prepared and willing to demonstrate mastery of each competency. Participants will recertify on verbal and physical de-escalation techniques. Various therapeutic holds will be demonstrated and practiced. They will learn to de-escalate a crisis situation and test out of core competencies. | 09/28/2025 | 09/29/2025(1 event)9:00 am: PBIS Coaches Collaborative 9:00 am - 11:30 am Join us for a four-part PBIS Coaches Collaborative designed to connect and empower PBIS teams throughout the IU region. This series offers a supportive space to share ideas, deepen implementation, and strengthen systems across all tiers. Who Should Attend: PBIS leads, coaches, and team members from any school within the IU region. Attendance at all four sessions is encouraged but not required. Topics Will Include: • Refreshing and boosting Tier 1 practices • Exploring and enhancing Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports • Using data-based decision making to guide implementation • Sharing resources, tools, and success stories • Highlighting innovative and unique practices • Building a regional network of PBIS support Each session will include time for learning, discussion, and planning, with opportunities to collaborate and problem-solve with peers from across the IU.
