| 01/12/2022(2 events)8:00 am: QBS Re-certification ~ Advanced Skills/High Severity 8:00 am - 3:30 pm This training will serve as certification in High Severity Behavior 1 & 2 and Advanced Skills The High Severity Behavior modules are designed for organizations that support individuals with the potential for extremely dangerous behavior. It includes strategies for developing safety plans, advanced physical safety procedures (releasing from rear chokes and hair pulls) team safety strategies, and safe floor hold procedures. Participants will learn advanced verbal and physical de-escalation techniques including the rear hair pull release, rear choke release, head lock release, triad and supine. Various therapeutic holds will be demonstrated and practiced. Participants will learn to de-escalate a crisis situation and check out of core competencies. The Trauma Talk presentation uses the facilitator’s personal story to help participants feel as though they are not alone in difficult times. Teaching the average person about trauma is extremely important to gain a better awareness of what trauma is, how it can affect our life, and what we can do about our traumatic experiences. Trauma Talk for Adults is presented in a laid-back style to ensure maximum comfortability from all participants as trauma can be a difficult learning subject. Learning objectives: • Definition of trauma, triggers, trauma responses, post traumatic growth, resiliency, and “superpowers.” • Personal trauma story will help teach participants about many different types of trauma, as well as personal growth from these experiences. • Managing triggers using mindfulness, anchors, islands, grounding, and breathing • The importance of being understanding when someone around you may be triggered. • Understanding what the Flight, Fight, and Freeze responses are, why they happen, and how to handle them. • Trauma is presented in a different type of language than is normally used. This will assist in comprehension of materials. School-based instructional coaches provide professional development for teachers and school leaders focused on refining classroom practices, increasing student engagement, and improving student achievement. Sessions will be designed around PIICs four elements of coaching and include strategies for one-on-one and small group coaching, analyzing data, using evidenced-based literacy/instructional strategies, and strategies to promote reflective practices. Because these sessions focus on the process of coaching, it is applicable to all curriculum models including Learning-Focused Schools, Reading Apprenticeship, and Standards Aligned System. The content of these sessions is applicable to PreK-12 teacher leaders, instructional coaches, department chairs, curriculum coordinators, and principals. 01/23/2022 | 01/24/2022(1 event)9:00 am: Trauma Informed Educators Collaborative ~ Individual and Bundle options 9:00 am - 2:00 pm Williamsport 1/24/2022 & 2/28/2022 & Canton 3/21/22 & 4/4/2022 In this collaborative, we will be focusing on the Four R’s of Trauma-Informed Care from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as it relates to student development and school culture. Each session will offer evidence-based practices that will help you develop a deeper understanding of trauma, its impact on both educators’ and students’ learning and engagement, and strategies for avoiding re-traumatization. Additionally, we will guide participants through professional standards of care that can help to prevent burnout and assist in building better relationships with colleagues and students. Training will be given in a learning and workshopping format and geared toward School Counselors, School Psychologists, and School Resource Officers, along with any other educator wishing to learn the most influential trauma-informed practices for their district. Attendance at all four sessions is required. Districts have the option buddle this collaborative with Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) and QPR Suicide Prevention Training for up to 6 people for an additional cost. This professional development offering will take the form of a professional learning network for administrators, curriculum coordinators and teacher leaders (grades K-8) who are willing to collaborate in round table discussions and dive deeper with text-dependent analysis. Participants will gain a deep understanding of learning progressions and replacement units in order to monitor student growth and differentiate classroom instruction. It is suggested that participants previously have attended Teaching Deliberate Analysis in order to participate in A League of Learners. The training consists of two face-to-face workshops with one follow-up virtual support session provided at no additional cost. This virtual support session will be scheduled at the request of the participant. Participants must register for both face-to-face sessions to attend. Training materials are research-based and created and shared by Dr. Jeri Thompson from the Center for Assessment in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
