09/21/2014 | 09/22/2014(1 event)8:00 am: Quality Behavior Solutions Safety Care Specialist Recertification 8:00 am - 4:00 pm 2400 Reach Road Williamsport, PA 17701 USA 570-323-8561 This training requires demonstration of 18 verbal and physical competencies. Participants should come prepared and willing to demonstrate mastery of each competency. Participants will recertify on verbal and physical de-escalation techniques. Various therapeutic holds will be demonstrated and practiced. They will learn to de-escalate a crisis situation and test out of core competencies. This is a physical training. Participants should dress appropriately in loose, comfortable clothing. Please refrain from wearing flip flops, sandals, clogs, or open toed shoes. Athletic shoes such as sneakers are most appropriate. The training will require participants to shuffle backward, twist and turn and transition from a standing to floor position. Participants should only register if they are willing and able to demonstrate the physical competencies. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the facilitator. This training is not open to parents, outside agencies, or districts not within IU 17. School districts served by BLaST IU 17 will not be invoiced. The session will explore the following essential questions: What is the Core Shift in the new PA Core Standards and what does that mean for art education? How can we use PA Core Standards to accelerate our students learning about Art? How do we teach our students how writing is used in our discipline to: • write artist’s statements, • summarize what they have learned about art • demonstrate understanding of content area vocabulary • reflect on their work, what they've learned, and future artistic goals (metacognition). In what ways does General Academic Vocabulary make natural connections to art standards? What does the future look like for standards-based art education? Participants will engage in practical teaching strategies and also be provided time to network with other art teachers from across our region. Participants will design, build, and review SLOs for use in guiding instruction and determining student mastery and/or growth as part of PA's educator effectiveness system. This training is open to all school districts and required for SLO Pilot districts. Participants will review the requirements and timeline for the SLO Pilot; review each component used in the SLO process, including the role of high-quality performance measures; and examine tools and techniques available to teachers and principals. The training details getting to know SWIS, using SWIS data for discipline decisions, SWIS data entry and reporting schedule, common navigation, logging into and out of SWIS, generating reports, tools, building fluency, and annual account activities. 12:30 pm: Check In Check Out (CICO) School-Wide Information System Data Entry Training 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm 2400 Reach Road Williamsport, PA 17701 USA 570-323-8561 This is a requested training that details the process in utilizing the School-Wide Informational System (SWIS) Check In Check Out (CICO) System to monitor districts tier two interventions. This training provides an opportunity for participants to practice the application of the online system to progress monitor tier two interventions. Schools are required to attend this training in order to access the online portion of the CICO.
