03/05/2020We are excited to offer training for math teachers of all types! Whether veteran GMM users or brand new to the program, we want to make sure that you are equipped to use the new GMM Web App as we continue the process of phasing out the Java version. Topics include: • Benefits and changes visible in a GMM classroom for providing individualized cumulative review. • All elements of the new web-based teacher interface. We will help you transition to this smoothly. • In-depth instruction on developing high-quality classroom engagement. • How to effectively implement GMM to support long-term retention. • How to analyze data metrics including: what they mean, appropriate ranges, and what actions to take. • Discussion of best practices for increased success as well as common mistakes to avoid. 03/13/2020Acadience Reading helps teachers identify children at risk for reading difficulties and determine the skills to target for instructional support. Acadience Reading K-6 provides universal screening; detects when students need extra support; is sensitive to effects of intervention and supports the Rtl/Multi-tiered model. This session will begin with reviewing the themes from the Acadience Reading Essentials Workshop as well as reviewing the administration and scoring procedures. Participants will then learn to interpret Acadience Reading K-6 data to change reading outcomes, plan instruction and evaluate individual and group progress. Sign-in begins at 8:00 AM.

During the one-day workshop, you and your SCRIPT team will engage in creating a vision for Computer Science, reflect on existing programs and policies, and set goals in each of the SCRIPT categories to work towards your vision. Participating districts are asked to commit to a minimum of five participants from the district, including one central administrator, one building administrator, two K-12 teachers/librarians who are currently teaching or are expected to teach CS, and one counselor. The recommended team consists of at least two central administrators, two building administrators from different buildings, four K-12 teachers/librarians who are currently teaching or are expected to teach CS, and two counselors (one MS and one HS). You may attend with a maximum of 15 participants. If you have any questions, please email Rebecca Gibboney (rgibboney@iu17.org). Registration deadline is March 11, 2020. Sign in begins at 7:30 AM. ACT 48 is provided.
Cost $200 per District for a team of 5-15 participants.

With the commitment of the state funds to promote the growth of equitable STEM opportunities for all students, we are again able to offer participation in ITC at no cost to districts. The Innovation & Technology Collaborative (ITC) is a network of educators and administrators interested in implementing 21st Century approaches to transform teaching and learning. Our Professional Learning Focus for 2019-20 will be: “Discovering the Truths of Innovation While Daring to Reach New Heights as Teacher Leaders” We suggest you read Brene Brown's book "Dare to Lead." New this year is a field trip to Delta School in State College!
District Commitment
- Identify at least 2-5 leaders of innovative practices to consistently participate in up to five meetings throughout the school year.
- Provide time for ITC participants to share resources with colleagues back in home district
- Administrative support for innovative practices

03/27/2020This Professional Learning Opportunity for K-12 School Counselors will occur three times a year. The cohort package is intended for the consistent attendance of a school counselor for all three sessions. The full day professional learning topics will reference ASCA recognized materials, PDE Initiatives, local community efforts and district needs. Session Topics Include: 1. Maximizing Student Achievement: Placement, Intervention and Planning 2. Understanding Culturally Responsive Counseling: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion 3. Building Community Partnerships: Health Wellness and Workforce 4. Strengthening the Home and School Connection: Communicating with Compassion 5.
