11/01/2019Fall for Innovation is designed to expose teachers from all content areas to innovation tools and practices that will enhance their current curriculum. This professional development offering is intended for ANY classroom teacher (k-12) or administrator that would like to gain more experience and knowledge with innovation and STEM education across all content areas. Participants will spend the morning interacting with one another through a hands-on, interactive session with Lending Library tools and gadgets, plus more Instructional Technology tools. In the afternoon, participants will develop lessons, for any content area, that uses a 21st Century Mindset (innovation, critical thinking, etc.). This session will reiterate that STEM and innovation are not a silo subject, but rather should be integrated into daily lessons across all content areas. Participants can choose from different options for this workshop series. To register click the desired option line.

Option A: The Innovator’s Complete Package
This option consists of two face-to-face workshops with a support virtual session provided at no additional cost. These participants will focus on developing an innovative lesson, having facilitator support virtually, and then reflecting and showcasing the lesson in the Spring.

Participants will just experience the face-to-face workshop. **Support can be provided but at an additional cost.

11/07/2019SCHOOL TO WORKFORCE CONNECTIONS—A CULTURAL SHIFT PRINCIPAL AND TEACHER TRAINING The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) is pleased to announce a one-day 6-hour train-the-trainer boot camp (Act 48) designed to assist districts in meeting the statewide postsecondary attainment 2025 goal of 60 percent of Pennsylvanians with a postsecondary credential, certificate, or degree. Training will be provided by the Career Readiness State Training (CRST) team and will include the following: • Career Readiness and Workforce in PA (Career Education and Work Standards) • Industry-Based Learning • Stakeholder and Workforce Partnerships • Classroom and Workforce Alignment • Supporting Resources District training teams should include a minimum of three and no more than ten K-12 educators. The lead team member should be a building principal or assistant principal. With an emphasis on classroom alignment to workforce needs, team composition should include teachers from both elementary and secondary. The goal of this training is the development of an action plan that utilizes stakeholder and workforce partnerships to expand the classroom to career connections and build school wide momentum for career readiness. Team members will be poised to provide support in the implementation of the action plan.

11/18/2019With the commitment of the state funds to promote the growth of equitable STEM opportunities for all students, we are again able to offer participation in ITC at no cost to districts. The Innovation & Technology Collaborative (ITC) is a network of educators and administrators interested in implementing 21st Century approaches to transform teaching and learning. Our Professional Learning Focus for 2019-20 will be: “Discovering the Truths of Innovation While Daring to Reach New Heights as Teacher Leaders” We suggest you read Brene Brown's book "Dare to Lead." New this year is a field trip to Delta School in State College!
District Commitment
- Identify at least 2-5 leaders of innovative practices to consistently participate in up to five meetings throughout the school year.
- Provide time for ITC participants to share resources with colleagues back in home district
- Administrative support for innovative practices
