09/18/2019Teaching Deliberate Analysis is designed to provide a close read on Text-Dependent Analysis through an instructional lens, rather than a focus on assessment. This professional development offering will take the form of a train-the-trainer model for curriculum coordinators and teacher leaders (grades 3-8) who intended to conduct turn-around training in his/her school district. Participants will gain a deep understanding of the concept of instructional analysis with the tools necessary to help teachers engage in the teaching and learning of text-dependent analysis. The training consists of two face-to-face workshops with one follow-up virtual support session provided at no additional cost. Participants must register for both face-to-face sessions to attend. Training materials are research-based and created and shared by Dr. Jeri Thompson from the Center for Assessment in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Participants will need a computer/device for training sessions.
COST: $80 includes lunch, ACT 48 processing and materials.

09/20/2019Training for SAP teams, Administrators, and Liaisons in Bradford and Sullivan Counties. Topic: SAP Referral Tracking. We will discuss how each of your schools are currently tracking referrals, teacher feedback, parent feedback, permissions, recommendations, etc. You will be discussing with the other teams how their methods differ from yours and we will be introducing new ways to run your SAP teams, electronically.
A representative from Educational Development Software, will give a live demonstration of aSAP. The aSAP software helps with referrals, team planning, intervention, connecting with supports, and even the cumbersome end of year PDE Form 4092. There will be a Q&A session after the demo.
Upon grant approval, the SCA will be offering all Bradford and Sullivan County Schools aSAP software funding for the 19/20 school year. Even if you don’t think the electronic system is for you, there will be a lot of tips for your team to have a successful SAP year.
**Parking can be difficult. There is limited on street parking, limited spaces in the lot behind the human services building, or a parking garage located on State Street.**

09/23/2019CICO-SWIS provides school staff with an online space to enter CICO point card data easily and efficiently online. Data are summarized across five reports allowing teams to: 1. Monitor individual student progress: Three reports give teams a way to see 1. If each student is meeting his/her goals each day. 2. How each student is doing at each check-in period. 3. The overall impact of plan changes made throughout the course of the intervention. 4. The impact of the intervention on each student’s office discipline referral count. 2. Review the overall integrity and fidelity of the program: Targeted (Tier II) and Universal (Tier I) teams can review two graphs in CICO-SWIS to see: 1. Overall student progress in the targeted intervention. 2. Overall effectiveness of the CICO intervention in the school. Registration begins at 11:15 AM

09/26/2019Description:This training runs from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm full participation is required. Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.

09/30/2019This professional development offering will take the form of a professional learning network for administrators, curriculum coordinators and teacher leaders (grades 3-8) who are willing to collaborate in round table discussions and dive deeper with text-dependent analysis. Participants will gain a deep understanding of learning progressions in order to monitor student growth and differentiate classroom instruction. Participants must have previously attended Teaching Deliberate Analysis in order to participate in A League of Learners.
