Acadience Reading K-6 provides universal screening; detects when students need extra support; is sensitive to effects of intervention and supports the Rtl/Multi-tiered model. This session will begin with reviewing the themes from the Acadience Reading Essentials Workshop as well as reviewing the administration and scoring procedures. Participants will then learn to interpret Acadience Reading K-6 data to change reading outcomes, plan instruction and evaluate individual and group progress. Sign-in begins at 8:00 AM. Participating districts are asked to commit to a minimum of five participants from the district, including one central administrator, one building administrator, two K-12 teachers/librarians who are currently teaching or are expected to teach CS, and one counselor. The recommended team consists of at least two central administrators, two building administrators from different buildings, four K-12 teachers/librarians who are currently teaching or are expected to teach CS, and two counselors (one MS and one HS). Teachers are working hard but need literacy-specific tools and training to impact student outcomes and change this statistic. This presentation, which uses information from Scarborough's Reading Rope, will help literacy educators "learn the Rope" to teach reading. Educational Consultant Erin Hamilton will discuss blended learning approaches, online resources, and other tools designed to make teachers more effective and efficient in reading instruction. Participants will explore the various strands of the 'Rope' and will demystify common misunderstandings while sharing best practices. Join us and see how you can help every student become a proficient reader! The STEM K'nex Design challenge is to create a way of conserving energy in the future. For example, transforming energy from one object to power another or creating a new type of energy to power a city. Create a model of your energy conservation idea out of K’Nex pieces. Be creative! Participants will spend the morning interacting with one another through a hands-on, interactive session with Lending Library tools and gadgets. In the afternoon, participants will develop lessons, for any content area, that uses a 21st Century Mindset (communication, critical thinking, collaboration and creativity). This session will reiterate that STEM and innovation are not a silo subject, but rather should be integrated into daily lessons across all content areas.
