To continue growing our coaching best practices, participants will fill their coaching bucket with 'virtual' visits of different coaching districts. At each district, coaches will focus on one of the four elements of coaching including one-on-one and small group coaching, analyzing data, using evidenced-based literacy/instructional strategies and strategies to promote reflection. The showcase will focus on the process of coaching and is applicable to all identified PIIC coaches; however, it is also applicable to PreK-12 teacher leaders, instructional coaches, department chairs, curriculum coordinators and principals. When registering with payment, the participant is purchasing the bundle, which consists of three showcases. If an event occurs and the participant is unable to attend, please let Rebecca Gibboney (rgibboney@iu13.org) know in advance for planning purposes. When purchasing the PIIC PLUS bundle the Instructional Coach will also receive the Summer 'PIICnic' retreat, Coaching Workshops, State Action Plans, one on-site Mentor visit (3/district max), coffee with Coach (once a quarter), Eduprotocol strategies, amd a copy of 'The Happiness Project' by Gretchen Rubin! 10/11/2020 | 10/12/2020 | 10/13/2020(1 event)All day: School to Workforce Connections All day - School to Workforce Connections ~ A Cultural Shift Principal and Teacher Training The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) is pleased to announce the two hour ZOOM train-the-trainer boot camp (Act 48) designed to assist districts in meeting the statewide postsecondary attainment 2025 goal of 60 percent of Pennsylvanians with a postsecondary credential, certificate, or degree. Training will be provided by the Career Readiness State Training (CRST) team and will include the following: • Career Readiness and Workforce in PA (Career Education and Work Standards) • Industry-Based Learning • Stakeholder and Workforce Partnerships • Classroom and Workforce Alignment • Supporting Resources District training teams should include a minimum of three and no more than ten K-12 educators. The lead team member should be a building principal or assistant principal. With an emphasis on classroom alignment to workforce needs, team composition should include teachers from both elementary and secondary. The goal of this training is the development of an action plan that utilizes stakeholder and workforce partnerships to expand the classroom to career connections and build school wide momentum for career readiness. Participants will take the assessments in these areas designed to fulfill the current requirements of No Child Left Behind for "highly qualified paraprofessionals." No Child Left Behind requires that all individuals entering the paraprofessional field to be Highly Qualified. To be considered Highly Qualified, individuals are required to have (1) of the following: • Have completed at least 2 years of post-secondary study • Possess an associate degree or higher • Pass a rigorous local assessment in reading, writing and mathematics. It is a time to meet up with like-minded professionals from surrounding districts, find solutions to problems, and develop a network that can be relied on throughout the school year.
