We begin by discussing joint attention skills. Next we will look at different technology options available to meet the needs of our students and make language learning fun. The day will include discussion of tools that can be used with students with special needs to build language skills. We will also discuss STEM activities often used in the general education setting and how these activities can be used to build language skills and provide ideas for inclusion. The day will include hands on activities. Registration begins at 8:15 AM. 10/27/2019 | 10/28/2019 | 10/29/2019 | 10/30/2019(2 events)8:00 am: Career Readiness Training 8:00 am - 4:00 pm 2400 Reach Road Williamsport, PA 17701 USA 570-323-8561 SCHOOL TO WORKFORCE CONNECTIONS—A CULTURAL SHIFT PRINCIPAL AND TEACHER TRAINING The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) is pleased to announce a one-day 6-hour train-the-trainer boot camp (Act 48) designed to assist districts in meeting the statewide postsecondary attainment 2025 goal of 60 percent of Pennsylvanians with a postsecondary credential, certificate, or degree. Training will be provided by the Career Readiness State Training (CRST) team and will include the following: • Career Readiness and Workforce in PA (Career Education and Work Standards) • Industry-Based Learning • Stakeholder and Workforce Partnerships • Classroom and Workforce Alignment • Supporting Resources District training teams should include a minimum of three and no more than ten K-12 educators. The lead team member should be a building principal or assistant principal. With an emphasis on classroom alignment to workforce needs, team composition should include teachers from both elementary and secondary. The goal of this training is the development of an action plan that utilizes stakeholder and workforce partnerships to expand the classroom to career connections and build school wide momentum for career readiness. Team members will be poised to provide support in the implementation of the action plan. | 10/31/2019 | 11/01/2019(1 event)9:00 am: Fall 4 Innovation ~ Option A or B 9:00 am - 2:00 pm 2400 Reach Road Williamsport, PA 17701 USA 570-323-8561 Fall for Innovation is designed to expose teachers from all content areas to innovation tools and practices that will enhance their current curriculum. This professional development offering is intended for ANY classroom teacher (k-12) or administrator that would like to gain more experience and knowledge with innovation and STEM education across all content areas. Participants will spend the morning interacting with one another through a hands-on, interactive session with Lending Library tools and gadgets, plus more Instructional Technology tools. In the afternoon, participants will develop lessons, for any content area, that uses a 21st Century Mindset (innovation, critical thinking, etc.). This session will reiterate that STEM and innovation are not a silo subject, but rather should be integrated into daily lessons across all content areas.
