01/26/2020 | 01/27/2020 | 01/28/2020(1 event)9:00 am: Eligibility Requirements for Speech & Language Impairment 9:00 am - 3:00 pm BLaST IU 17 - Canton Office School based practice is challenging especially navigating the intersection were compliance, best practice, our training and free appropriate public education intersect. This session will include a fast paced review of psychometric data related to standardized assessments (e.g., reliability, validity, sensitivity, specificity, and the purpose of the test, scoring consideration) for Speech Language Pathology and an overview of comprehensive assessment to prevent over or under identification of speech language disabilities in the school settings. In addition to standardized assessments and comprehensive evaluation, the session will include discussion of IDEA/chapter 14 and root cause analysis of high caseloads. Outcomes: Participants will: 1. State the psychometric data needed to determine if a test is a valid measure for a particular student. 2. Identify tests that have limited or poor psychometric data. 3. State 4 parts of a comprehensive school based assessment 4. Discuss 3 potential causes for high caseloads as it relates to our practice. CCC-SLP Lauren Smith, M.S. CCC-SLP Dana Vermilya, M.S., CCC-SLP Christine Bear, M.A., CCC-SLP Description: This hands-on workshop hosted in partnership by CIU 10, BLaST IU 17, and TIU 11 Training and Consultation will introduce participants to assistive technology making skills to create usable access products. Participants will learn basic soldering to join wire segments and assemble mono and stereo components for use in a variety of assistive technology applications. Those skills will be applied to create a switch tester that can be used determine status of those switches used by an individual with physical disabilities. Each participant will have the opportunity to choose to complete two other projects including switch-adapting a stuffed, electronic toy that they bring. This workshop is targeted for assistive technology specialists, occupational therapists, regular or special education teachers, and STEAM teachers interested in expanding maker opportunities into authentic special education applications! 02/09/2020 | 02/10/2020 | 02/11/2020(1 event)9:00 am: Model Plan Guide Exploration Day 9:00 am - 3:00 pm 2400 Reach Road Williamsport, PA 17701 USA 570-323-8561 This session will be facilitated by Dr. Dana Milakovic (PDE) and provide a walk-thru of the PCCD Model Trauma-Informed Approach Plan. District teams are encouraged to attend to develop a deeper understanding of plan intentions and available resources. There will also be an opportunity for teams to collaborate and outline the first steps in plan development. Sign in begins at 8:45 AM. There is no cost to this event. Lunch is NOT provided.
