Participants should come prepared and willing to demonstrate mastery of each competency. Safety Care Training is a two-full-day training that teaches the goals of safety management, interdisciplinary treatment, creates an understanding of challenging behavior, establishing a safe environment, practicing safety habits, delivering and differential reinforcement. Safety care training teaches incident minimization, de-escalation procedures, incident management (physical safety techniques) and post incident procedures. Each session will offer fidelity-based practices that will help your team develop the skills they need for successful implementation of PBIS at any Tier. Training that is provided will focus on building your capacity as a Coach in a learning and workshopping format. Collaboration with an IU Consultant and Regional Coaches will take place in the morning, with time given in the afternoon for planning and preparation (other team members are invited to join at this time). A Schoology course will be setup with additional activities for participants to access between sessions. 09/19/2021 | 09/20/2021(2 events)9:00 am: Trauma Informed Educators Collaborative ~ Individual and Bundle options 9:00 am - 2:00 pm In this collaborative, we will be focusing on the Four R’s of Trauma-Informed Care from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as it relates to student development and school culture. Each session will offer evidence-based practices that will help you develop a deeper understanding of trauma, its impact on both educators’ and students’ learning and engagement, and strategies for avoiding re-traumatization. Additionally, we will guide participants through professional standards of care that can help to prevent burnout and assist in building better relationships with colleagues and students. Training will be given in a learning and workshopping format and geared toward School Counselors, School Psychologists, and School Resource Officers, along with any other educator wishing to learn the most influential trauma-informed practices for their district. Attendance at all four sessions is required. Districts have the option buddle this collaborative with Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) and QPR Suicide Prevention Training for up to 6 people for an additional cost. (ACT 48 will be in addition to the 18 hours listed here) (Dates for YMHFA and QPR training TBD) Session 1: REALIZE the impact of trauma on student learning and the impact it has on school climate Session 2: RECOGNIZE the signs of trauma in students, families, staff members, and the community Session 3: RESPOND by integrating evidence-based practices related to trauma into your school and district Session 4: RESIST re-traumatization of students, families, and staff.
