05/09/2021 | 05/10/2021 | 05/11/2021 | 05/12/2021 | 05/13/2021(2 events)9:00 am: Ask a Liaison ~ Resource Rescue! 9:00 am - 11:00 am ZOOM ~ LINKS WILL BE MAILED CLOSER TO TRAINING The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) is pleased to announce a two-hour virtual training session (Act 48) designed to assist districts in meeting evidence requirements for the Career Readiness Indicator and the Industry-Based Learning Indicator. Educators will have the opportunity to take a deep dive into existing free classroom resources, SAS, and the Career Ready PA Coalition websites to support career readiness and work-based learning. Your regional Career Ready PA liaison will guide you through the process, as well as provide technical support. The goal of this training is to further develop a repository of resources to support the Career Readiness and Industry-Based Learning Indicators with the support of the Career Ready PA Regional Liaison in each of the 10 Career Ready PA Regions. Registration closes: May 12, 2021 Sign in begins at 8:45 AM Cost: No charge ACT 48: 3:30 pm: Introduction to Restorative Practices & Using Circles Effectively 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm ZOOM none You and your staff will learn a range of strategies that can be used every day. Attendees will learn how to set high expectations while being supportive. Opportunities be provided to practice how to provide direct feedback and how to ask questions that foster accountability. The most effective methods to resolve common conflicts will be presented. We devote the second day entirely to teaching attendees to facilitate restorative circles. Circles are an essential process for building social capital, resolving social problems and responding when harm occurs. Circles create a positive learning environment. Attendees will learn by participating in circles with other attendees and taking turns learning how to facilitate a circle. By the end of the day, staff will be prepared to return to their setting and run their first circle! This event is held on the second and fourth Thursday from February 11, 2021 through May27, 2021. 05/16/2021 | 05/17/2021 | 05/18/2021 | 05/19/2021 | 05/20/2021 | 05/21/2021(1 event)8:30 am: Career Readiness Bootcamp Training 8:30 am - 11:30 am ZOOM none School to Workforce Connections ~ A Cultural Shift Principal and Teacher Training The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) is pleased to announce the two hour ZOOM train-the-trainer boot camp (Act 48) designed to assist districts in meeting the statewide postsecondary attainment 2025 goal of 60 percent of Pennsylvanians with a postsecondary credential, certificate, or degree. Training will be provided by the Career Readiness State Training (CRST) team and will include the following: • Career Readiness and Workforce in PA (Career Education and Work Standards) • Industry-Based Learning • Stakeholder and Workforce Partnerships • Classroom and Workforce Alignment • Supporting Resources District training teams should include a minimum of three and no more than ten K-12 educators. The lead team member should be a building principal or assistant principal. With an emphasis on classroom alignment to workforce needs, team composition should include teachers from both elementary and secondary. The goal of this training is the development of an action plan that utilizes stakeholder and workforce partnerships to expand the classroom to career connections and build school wide momentum for career readiness. Team members will be poised to provide support in the implementation of the action plan. Our guest speaer is Chris Herman. Zoom link will be emailed upon registration and prior to event.
