Participants will learn what constitutes an effective transition program and how to write an IEP that includes coordinated, measurable annual goals and transition services, thus enabling students to meet their post-secondary goals after graduation from High School. Participants will also be given tools which will allow them to critically review IEPs for compliance and effective Secondary Transition practices. Objectives Participants will be able to: - Describe what constitutes an effective transition program - Review IEPs for compliance and effective secondary transition practices Participants are asked to bring a current IEP for a student on their caseload, age 14 or older. This session will give you an overview of Computer Science in our PA and explain Computer Science beyond the coding. You will leave with a toolbox of activities to do you in your classroom, no matter the content, to enhance the computer science experience for your students. PM: A Self-Organized Learning Environment, or SOLE, can exist anywhere there is a computer, internet connection, and students who are ready to learn. Within a SOLE, students are given the freedom to learn collaboratively using the internet. SOLE sessions are characterized by discovery, sharing, spontaneity and limited teacher intervention. Every SOLE session activates the learners’ creativity, requires critical thinking, and refines communication skills. This video-based curriculum teaches students foundational CS, problem-solving and collaboration skills through themes related to students’ interests. In this hands-on professional development workshop, teachers will learn how to use CS First, Google’s free ready-to-teach introductory computer science (CS) curriculum for elementary and middle school students.
