02/08/2015 | 02/09/2015 | 02/10/2015(1 event)8:00 am: Quality Behavior Solutions - Safety Care Specialist Certification 8:00 am - 4:00 pm 33 Springbrook Drive Canton, PA 17724 USA 570-673-6001 This training requires demonstration of 18 verbal and physical competencies. Participants should come prepared and willing to demonstrate mastery of each competency. Safety Care Training is a two-full-day training that teaches the goals of safety management, interdisciplinary treatment, creates an understanding of challenging behavior, establishing a safe environment, practicing safety habits, delivering and differential reinforcement. Safety care training teaches incident minimization, de-escalation procedures, incident management (physical safety techniques) and post incident procedures. This is a physical training. Participants should dress appropriately in loose, comfortable clothing. Please refrain from wearing flip flops, sandals, clogs, or open toed shoes. Athletic shoes such as sneakers are most appropriate. The training will require participants to shuffle backward, twist and turn and transition from a standing to floor position. Participants should only register if they are willing and able to demonstrate the physical competencies. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the facilitator. This training is not open to parents, outside agencies, or districts not within IU 17. School districts served by BLaST IU 17 will not be invoiced. Registration fees will be covered by IDEA funding. Lunch will be provided on site. ** Participants must attend the entire two-day training to receive certification and Act 48 credit. Partial credit will not be awarded. Participants attending with a tier two team, including an administrator, can complete the steps to establish a check in check out system. Teams will audit existing interventions, establish entrance and exit rules required to access tier two interventions, and determine from existing data interventions that are in need of development. Participants will complete the online training for Check In/Check Out System available through SWIS with a subscription. It's never too late to try new techniques when it comes to managing our classrooms. In today's session, we will be looking at the basics of proactive classroom management. As teachers, we will look at what we can proactively set up or change in our classrooms (or ourselves) to successfully manage student behavior. | 02/18/2015 | 02/19/2015(1 event)8:30 am: Pennsylvania Institute for Instructional Coaching (PIIC) 8:30 am - 3:30 pm Dorsett Drive Mansfield, PA 16933 USA The Pennsylvania Institute for Instructional Coaching (PIIC) is a state-wide system of support that enhances the work of school-based instructional coaches. School-based instructional coaches provide professional development for teachers and school leaders focused on refining classroom practices, increasing student engagement, and improving student achievement. Sessions will be designed around PIICs four elements of coaching and include strategies for one-on-one and small group coaching, analyzing data, using evidenced-based literacy/instructional strategies, and strategies to promote reflective practices. Because these sessions focus on the process of coaching, it is applicable to all curriculum models including Learning-Focused Schools, Reading Apprenticeship, and Standards Aligned System. The content of these sessions is applicable to PreK-12 teacher leaders, instructional coaches, department chairs, curriculum coordinators, and principals. Identified PIIC coaches are required to attend all sessions throughout the year while non-PIIC participants are encouraged but not required to attend all sessions throughout the year. It is recommended that a district send a team consisting of at least one adult learner(teacher, instructional coach, curriculum coordinator, administrator, technology coach, etc.) and at least two, and no more than four, students (grades 7-12). A screencast is a digital video and audio recording of what occurs on a presenter's computer screen, and it can be used to create sophisticated, information-rich multimedia presentations. Screencasting can be integrated across curriculum and into a plethora of learning activities. Screencasts are an effective instructional format that can be used for tutorials, demonstrations, digital storytelling, and narrated PowerPoint presentations, integrating photos, media, and more. The workshop will be designed to educate and empower Teachers and Students in your district. All participants will receive an introduction to the SAMR model and learn how screencasting can be used at each level; learn about various screencasting tools available for different devices; meet teachers and students currently using screencasting in their school; learn the skills essential for screencasting; plan a screencast; and apply skills to create a screencast. In order to fully participate in this learning experience, all participants should bring a mobile device or laptop to the workshop for students and teachers, and have the ability to download applications and programs onto your device.
