N/A - 2400 Reach Road Williamsport, PA 17701 USA 570-323-8561 Full day, train-the-trainer model for administrator teams. This session will focus on training staff, including strategies for responding to common questions and activities that reinforce learning about PVAAS and having one-on-one conversations with teachers about their PVAAS teacher specific reports as part of the Educator Effectiveness System. AUDIENCE: Four (4) member LEA/district administrative team (could include Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Principal, Assistant Principal, Director of Curriculum & Instruction, Director of Professional Development, Director of Special Education/Pupil Services, subject area supervisor). PREREQUISITE: To gain the most benefit from this session, participants should be familiar with the concept of how PVAAS measures growth. To fully maximize your time in this full-day session, we ask each participant to come prepared by viewing the following PVAAS Virtual Learning Modules (found under the Concept of Growth category on the PVAAS site): * Introduction to Measuring Academic Growth MATERIALS NEEDED: Participants should bring a laptop or tablet, along with their PVAAS username, password, and PPID to access reporting. A demo site will be available to use during the training. Evernote's popularity with school leaders is growing due to its ability to: - utilize cloud storage (all of your information can be accessed from multiple devices such as phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops) - easy note taking features that can be instantly organized, reorganized, and quickly searched (turns your iPad or other iOS devices into productivity machines in which you can find any email, website, or file within seconds) - archiving features allow you to easily store pdf files, receipts, photos, audio files (great for archiving investigations, contracts, professional reading articles, personnel files, student and teacher portfolios, etc.) - activating the share feature allows multiple users to collaborate on single documents and access shared folders (great for collaborating on building master schedules, curriculum, lesson planning etc.) Join other school leaders as we explore how Evernote can make your work more effective and efficient. This session will specifically look at the use of Evernote for school leaders and provide practical strategies as well as time to experiment. Participants are encouraged to bring multiple digital devices (laptop, tablet, phone) so they can explore Evernote's synching features. 07/27/2014 | 07/28/2014 | 07/29/2014 | 07/30/2014(1 event)9:00 am: Expedition Chesapeake Teacher Professional Development Day 9:00 am - 3:00 pm 2400 Reach Road Williamsport, PA 17701 USA 570-323-8561 This EPA grant funded training is free to all educators. Participants will be offered a $100 stipend, a kit of classroom equipment to take home and free access to all of the classroom-ready materials. This session is specifically designed for Gr. 6-12 educators who are interested in learning more about these free watershed education materials developed by Whitaker Center for use in middle school and high school classrooms. These materials are cross-curricular and can be utilized in all core and special subject areas. Materials include: project-based, inquiry-centered learning; students working in teams to solve real-world challenges then correlate their learning experiences to their own backyards; stand-alone lessons with learning experiences that are case-based, with focus on real places, problems and research throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed; at least one hands-on science experience in each scenario; lessons aligned to the National Science Standards as well as the Common Core Standards and science standards of the six watershed states and the District of Columbia; NGSS alignment to be added this spring; • a collection of rich teacher-friendly lesson plans which contain essential questions, assessment suggestions and rubrics, objectives, skills and vocabulary lists; • scientific and historic background information for the teacher; • suggestions for cross-curricular applications; • the use of science journaling to promote student reflection and understanding of new concepts. Using these materials, participants will explore how to engage students in reality-based lessons and encourage students to employ problem-solving techniques and apply their newly acquired content knowledge and skills in their own backyards.
