Jersey Shore Elementary School has been selected by PaTTAN as a model school in its implementation of School Wide Positive Behavior Support. The school is hosting three visits for schools that are interested in implementation of SW PBIS. The visits will summarize Tier One implementation including developing expectations, designing a matrix, effectively managing consequences, reinforcement efforts with students, data management, and evaluation of effectiveness at Tier One. The visits will also detail interventions at Tier Two and Three; including social and academic groups, check in and checkout, counseling interventions, and universal screening efforts. Visitors will have an opportunity to visit classrooms to visualize embedding SW PBIS into the classroom.

Quality Behavior Solutions - Safety Care Specialist Recertification

This training requires demonstration of 18 verbal and physical competencies. Participants should come prepared and willing to demonstrate mastery of each competency. Participants will recertify on verbal and physical de-escalation techniques. Various therapeutic holds will be demonstrated and practiced. They will learn to de-escalate a crisis situation and test out of core competencies.
This is a physical training. Participants should dress appropriately in loose, comfortable clothing. Please refrain from wearing flip flops, sandals, clogs, or open toed shoes. Athletic shoes such as sneakers are most appropriate. The training will require participants to shuffle backward, twist and turn and transition from a standing to floor position. Participants should only register if they are willing and able to demonstrate the physical competencies. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the facilitator. This training is not open to parents, outside agencies, or districts not within IU 17. School districts served by BLaST IU 17 will not be invoiced. Registration fees will be covered by IDEA funding. Lunch will be provided on site.

An Introduction to John Collins Writing: Improving Student Performance through Writing and Thinking Across the Curriculum (Grades 4-12) - For teachers in all subject areas grades 4 and above, department heads, principals, supervisors, curriculum committee members, and special educators. This is our foundation workshop. It shows teachers in any content area how to use the five types of writing to increase students' understanding and retention of course content while simultaneously increasing student involvement and motivation to learn. Most importantly, this workshop gives teachers the help they need to efficiently and fairly evaluate writing so that students become more skillful as a result of the process.
