Update and strengthen your biology background and enrich your teaching by attending the annual biology teaching professional development workshop at Lycoming College this fall. Participants will rotate through 6 sessions which hit big ideas in biology which are relevant to any entry level biology courses (including Keystone Biology/Reagents Biology) and AP biology. Teachers will use Wisconsin Fast Plants to teach students about natural selection using real organisms, learn about habitat, niche, adaptation and skull anatomy using Boneclone skulls, use Nerf Guns to model ATP function, play with models to learn about enzyme function and protein structure, use gene databases to identify genes and predict the phenotypes of bacteria AND work with two of Pennsylvania’s state environmental educators to use watersheds to teach ecology concepts. Participants will take home 6 Act 48 credits, a mini greenhouse with Fastplant seeds, lesson plans and free resources. As always, lunch is free and so are snacks.
