Adverse Childhood Experiences are a significant risk factor to physical and mental health in society. Often the psychological effects of trauma are common however the neurological and developmental impact on human development are less understood. Becoming a trauma informed professional is essential to promoting health, healing and wellness in children and adolescents. Developing a greater awareness and understanding of trauma informed practices helps to promote healthier development, a greater sense of empathy and greater success when managing maladaptive emotional and behavior issues. This professional seminar examines the psychobiology of trauma, how the trauma experience can lead to developmental, neurological, social and behavioral impairment on in children and adolescents. It also offers critical insights to increase success when implementing interventions and developing behavior modification strategies.
