Literacy Leadership Matters! Why? 1. School leadership directly impacts student achievement. 2. School leaders improve teaching and learning through promoting staff motivation, commitment, and a positive school culture. 3. School leaders play a critical role in supporting the literacy needs of all students, including those with or at risk for literacy-related disabilities, by designing and evaluating effective school-wide reading plans within multi-tiered systems of support. 4. School leaders actively support implementation of evidence based practices by providing access to high quality professional development and coaching/feedback opportunities. Join Erin Hamilton, from BLaST IU17, and State Lead Consultant for Literacy, Dr. Pam Kastner, as we take a deep dive into the research around foundational reading and what leadership needs to know to create successful teaching and learning teams. |
