These well-crafted lessons have been aligned to the PA Core and are embedded with the NCTM math practices. AUDIENCE: Middle School Math Teachers (grades 5-9); the enrollment is limited to 24 participants (not to exceed 4 per school). COST: $100 (includes four (4) days training and two (2) on-sight visits). Participants should come prepared and willing to demonstrate mastery of each competency. Safety Care Training is a two-full-day training that teaches the goals of safety management, interdisciplinary treatment, creates an understanding of challenging behavior, establishing a safe environment, practicing safety habits, delivering and differential reinforcement. Safety care training teaches incident minimization, de-escalation procedures, incident management (physical safety techniques) and post incident procedures. This is a physical training. The course will also include an update on current threat awareness and steps you can take to better prepare for and enhance your own personal safety. Students will be able to identify potential scenarios for using run, hide, or fight options if faced with an active shooter situation. Students will also have a better awareness of various threats they may potentially encounter and steps they can take to enhance their personal safety, both on and off the job. Participants attend multiple sessions, each with a different activity or lab focused on both current topics in cellular biology and practical teaching strategies. This year, Mr. Paul Andersen from Bozeman, Montana will be a guest speaker at the Biotech Conference. Mr. Andersen is an award winning speaker and science educator who has been featured on TED, Youtube Guru, Montana Teacher of the Year and was identified as one of the National School Boards Association "20 to Watch" technology leaders. He hosts a popular website (www.bozemanscience.com) which is popular with both teachers and students.  Paul has also been a featured speaker at National Association of Biology Teacher’s national convention.  Paul will bring his trademark enthusiasm as well as his knowledge of technology and science teaching skills to our conference this year. In addition to Mr. Andersen, teacher favorite Dr. Margaret Franzen from the 3D Molecular Designs, will also be guest speaker.
