An Introduction to John Collins Writing: Improving Student Performance through Writing and Thinking Across the Curriculum (Grades 4-12) - For teachers in all subject areas grades 4 and above, department heads, principals, supervisors, curriculum committee members, and special educators. This is our foundation workshop. It shows teachers in any content area how to use the five types of writing to increase students' understanding and retention of course content while simultaneously increasing student involvement and motivation to learn. Most importantly, this workshop gives teachers the help they need to efficiently and fairly evaluate writing so that students become more skillful as a result of the process. • Use writing to save time during classroom instruction without piles of additional papers to correct
